Measures of how important a node is within a network, by connections, by position, or by the flow it carries.

Why it matters now

Effort is always finite, so knowing which node carries the most flow is how conservation budgets get spent well. Keystone species, bridging habitat patches, and critical substations are all high-centrality nodes, and protecting them returns more per unit of effort than any uniform approach.
